Vajikaran Chikitsa is the branch of Ashtanga Ayurveda, which deals with all types of physical and psychological sexual problems like impotence, libido, poor erection, and early ejaculation in males. The WHO estimated that the usage of traditional medicine in developing countries is 80% and suggested a need for further exploration of the natural aphrodisiacs for the mechanism of action. Considering the prevalence of the sexual dysfunctioning in the society, side effects with the conventional aphrodisiac drugs, the study was planned to evaluate some Ayurvedic plants like Abutilon indicum and Withania somnifera for the aphrodisiac potential. CONCLUSIONS: This result should be considered with caution because of the low methodological quality of the studies included. However, the different surgical techniques assessed showed similar effects in the two types of studies included and we found that robotic surgery presented lower percentages of sexual impotence. Abstract: Patients with peripheral arterial disease are at increased risk for all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, and mortality from coronary artery disease. Smoking should be stopped, and hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia should be treated. Statins reduce the incidence of intermittent claudication and increase exercise duration until the onset of intermittent claudication in patients with peripheral arterial disease and hypercholesterolemia. Antiplatelet drugs, such as aspirin or clopidogrel, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, and statins, should be given to all patients with peripheral arterial disease. Beta-blockers should be given if coronary artery disease is present. Exercise rehabilitation programs and cilostazol improve exercise time until the onse...

Authors: Ulualp SO Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may be associated with myriad clinical consequences such as increased risk of systemic hypertension, coronary vascular disease, congestive heart failure, cerebrovascular disease, glucose intolerance, impotence, obesity, pulmonary hypertension, gastroesophageal reflux, and impaired concentration. Nonetheless, OSA remains undiagnosed in 82% of men and 93% of women with the condition. Early identification and treatment of OSA provides significant relief for individuals, prevents complications of OSA, and reduces overall health care costs. Better understanding of the pathogenesis, risk factors, diagnosis, and treatment of OSA has the potential to improve early recognition of OSA and prevention of adverse effects on the individual and society...MedWorm Message: Register for MedMatcha, MedWorm's medical advertising network, and receive $5 free advertising.

Dear Health Conscious Reader, In today’s Doctor’s House Call, I’m going to tell you how to combat one of the most dangerous threats to your health today. Estrogen. Estrogen is found in the hormone-laden meat you get at the grocery store. It’s found in plastic, too. Every time you take a sip from your water bottle or heat up a frozen dinner, you’re ingesting harmful chemicals that create synthetic estrogen in your body. This can cause you to have too much estrogen. Why is that a problem? There are lots of ways that too much estrogen in your system can make you sick. It can cause heart disease and five different kinds of cancer. And it can make you fat, impotent, depressed, and tired. Too much estrogen is also the biggest undiagnosed cause of prostate disease in men. And here’s s...

"Pity costs nothing, and it ain't worth nothing." Josh Billings "People are not homeless if they're sleeping in the streets of their own hometowns." Dan QuaylePity expresses a negative evaluation of the bad situation of others. Nevertheless people do not like to be pitied. What is wrong with pity and is pity still a virtue? The attitude of most people toward beggars or the homeless is a typical example of pity. Typical attitudes of compassion address those near and dear who need constant help, for example, a family member seriously ill, mentally retarded, or physically disabled. Pity and compassion are not generated in every case of bad luck, but only when we believe that someone suffers from substantial misfortune. Pity and compassion are kinds of sympathetic sorrow for someone's substanti...

We report 3 cases of CIDP in children with good outcome after MP pulse therapy. One male (7 years of age) and 2 females (4 and 5 years of age) presented with recurring episodes of functional impotence of both lower limbs and walking impairment, partially reversible without treatment. Clinical and electrophysiological data and the analysis of the cerebrospinal fluid were compatible with CIDP. MP pulses were administered: the total number of pulses varied from 5 to 8, very satisfactory progression on the clinical and electrophysiological pattern was noted, without recurrence in the 3 cases. Childhood CIDP presents clinical, electrophysiological outcome, and prognostic particularities, recurring readily, and the outcome is good. Boluses of MP are an alternative for treatment of these neuropat...
