Adhesions can be found after virtually every abdominopelvic operation performed through standard laparotomy as well as by laparoscopic approaches. Adhesions can be completely asymptomatic or can cause significant morbidity and mortality including strangulation, obstruction, and necrosis of bowel loops and/or infertility and organ injury during repeat abdominal surgery. Perhaps because of the multifactorial nature of adhesion development, prevention has been very limited. Three anti-adhesion products are commercially available, none of which has been universally accepted as a panacea. Part of the obstacles with adhesion management is the lack of an objective clinically relevant classification to allow the...

Active oxygen causes various problems including male infertility through the oxidation of DNA, proteins, and lipids. In the present study, we examined the immunohistochemical localization of molecules involved in oxidative stress including 8âhydroxyâ2âdeoxyguanosine (8âOHdG), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) in mature and developing rat testes. In mature rat testes, 8âOHdG was detected in leptotene, zygotene, and early pachytene spermatocytes, while its expression was weak in late pachytene stage spermatocytes. On the other hand, SOD was detected in late pachytene spermatocytes but not in early pachytene and former spermatocytes, suggesting the efficient removal of active oxygen by SOD in late pachytene spermatocytes. In developing rat testes, 8â...MedWorm Message: Register for MedMatcha, MedWorm's medical advertising network, and receive $5 free advertising.

Members of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board have asked this question and found their answer. After reading multiple Patient Testimonials and Patient Satisfaction Messages about tubal reversal, they have come to the realization pregnancy is possible after a tubal ligation- but only after having their tubes reversed. These members are now planning on having tube reversal surgery and are asking where will they obtain medical follow up for early pregnancies after reversal surgery? Dr. Berger and Dr. Monteith have provided an answer by creating a list of doctor's practices who have agreed to see reversal patients for both prenatal care and infertility treatment after their sterilization reversal surgeries. These members have found the Doctor's Directory on the reversal websit...
